Supporting vulnerable communities across eastern India through livelihoods, education, and protection from exploitation.

Our Approach in India

UNSED Foundation’s work in India focuses on supporting vulnerable communities across eastern regions where poverty, migration pressures, and limited access to essential services intersect. Through a combination of livelihood development, education, health initiatives, and protection from exploitation, we address the interconnected challenges that impact long-term stability. Our programs are rooted in local partnerships and designed to create practical, sustainable solutions that respond to the realities communities face every day. By strengthening economic opportunity and social protection together, we help individuals and families build more secure and self-reliant futures.

UNSED UDAY (Livelihoods)

UNSED UDAY focuses on helping individuals and families build sustainable sources of income. In regions where livelihoods are often limited to seasonal agriculture, daily wage labor, or plantation work, the program supports small business development, enterprise training, and market linkages. Participants receive guidance and mentorship to grow income-generating activities that can provide long-term stability. The goal is to move households beyond subsistence and toward economic independence.

UNSED Shiksha (Education)

UNSED Shiksha works to expand access to education and skill development for children and youth. Many families in vulnerable regions face economic pressures that lead to school dropouts and limited career pathways. This program supports continued education while providing vocational training, digital literacy, and career guidance. By equipping young people with relevant skills and knowledge, Shiksha helps create opportunities for stable and dignified employment.

UNSED Aarogya (Health)

UNSED Aarogya focuses on improving health awareness and overall community well-being. In many rural and plantation communities, access to healthcare information and preventative practices remains limited. The program promotes sanitation, hygiene, and basic health education to reduce preventable risks. By strengthening awareness and encouraging healthier practices, Aarogya supports stronger, more resilient communities.

UNSED Suraksha (Safe Migration & Anti-Trafficking)

UNSED Suraksha addresses the risks associated with migration and human trafficking in border and high-mobility regions. Many individuals migrate for work through informal channels, increasing vulnerability to exploitation. This program provides awareness, education, and support systems to help individuals make informed and safer migration decisions. It also focuses on protecting women, youth, and marginalized groups who are at higher risk of trafficking and unsafe labor conditions.

UNSED Nivesh (Livelihood Financing)

UNSED Nivesh provides access to small-scale financing that enables individuals to start or expand income-generating activities. A major barrier for many households is the lack of startup capital and access to formal financial systems. This program offers microloans, revolving funds, and financial literacy support to help participants invest in their livelihoods. By improving access to finance, Nivesh helps unlock economic opportunity and growth at the community level.

UNSED DigniCare Initiative

The DigniCare Initiative focuses on menstrual health and dignity, particularly for women and adolescent girls in underserved communities. Through the distribution of free sanitary products and awareness programs, the initiative addresses both health and social challenges related to menstrual hygiene. By improving access and reducing stigma, DigniCare supports the well-being, confidence, and participation of women and girls in education and daily life.

UNSED Platform Workers Collective

The UNSED Platform Workers Collective supports individuals engaged in informal and gig-based work who often lack job security, protections, and access to benefits. The program works to organize and empower workers by improving access to information, resources, and collective support systems. It aims to strengthen economic stability, advocate for fair conditions, and create pathways for more secure and sustainable livelihoods.
